Trauma Focused Therapy and EMDR
I am a trauma-informed and EMDR trained therapist who specializes in supporting individuals who have experienced trauma. I understand that confronting traumatic and distressing life events takes immense courage, and I'm here to walk alongside you through that process.
My goal is to create a safe, inclusive, and judgment free space where healing can happen at your own pace. All identities, backgrounds, and experiences are welcome here.
I utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) along with other evidence based modalities to help you process and heal from traumatic experiences. EMDR is a powerful therapy that helps your brain reprocess traumatic memories, reducing their emotional intensity and allowing you to move forward with greater peace and resilience.
I recognize that the effects of trauma are wide-ranging and unique to each person. Through empathetic attunement, I meet you exactly where you are. There is no pressure to move faster than feels right for you. Your comfort and sense of safety are always the priority.
In our work together, we'll:
Create a foundation of safety and trust before processing trauma
Reprocess traumatic experiences at a pace that feels manageable for you
Identify triggers and understand how trauma impacts your daily life
Develop healthy coping strategies for times of distress
Build resilience and reclaim a sense of empowerment
Work toward reducing symptoms like anxiety, flashbacks, nightmares, or hypervigilance
Help you move from surviving to thriving
I'm here to support you in healing from your past and creating a future where trauma no longer controls your life.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is particularly effective for those suffering from PTSD, anxiety disorders, and various other trauma-related issues. It can also be helpful in resolving other distressing life events.
EMDR is a specialized therapeutic approach designed to help individuals process and heal from traumatic experiences. Stress responses (fight, flight, or freeze) are natural instincts when responding during a distressing event. Distress from the event can remain with us including upsetting images, thoughts, and emotions. EMDR is a therapeutic technique used to process traumatic memories. It involves focusing on a distressing memory while simultaneously engaging in bilateral stimulation, like moving your eyes from side to side, listening to alternating sounds, or tapping your hands. This helps the brain reprocess the memory in a way that reduces its emotional intensity, allowing the individual to experience it in a more manageable way.
I offer clients both in-person and virtual options for their therapy needs.
